Diana’s Diner

For dinner we went to Diana’s diner. It’s a unique place with a very friendly feel. We were sesated in a room with vintage posters hung on the walls including posters of James Dean and Elvis Presley. We all sat at a long table in th4e middle of the room. Our waitress turned out to also be an S&T fresman, interestingly enough. While we eaited for our food, Laura pulled out a paddle ball game which turned out to be impossible to play. Unless, that is, you happen to be skilled at hand spasms like Chase. Even then it was very frustrating.

When the food showed up (it wasn’t a long wait at all), it was excellent. We were well fed with quality food that was both abundant and cheap. All in all it was an excellent dinner to an excellent trip.

Kokomo Joe’s

For the last leg of the adventure, teams five and six headed to Kokomo Joe’s Adventure Park right here in Rolla, MO. I must convey, I dominated the Go Kart race (winning from last place twice in a row!) The rest of the group arrived shortly after my compelling victory for their own races, and then, joined us in a fun-filled round of miniature golf.

Laura led each round, setting the MIA par for the rest of us. The first hole was rather easy (par was eight.) But, as the holes progressed, she became better and pars became lower and lower (with absolutely no encouragement from the peanut gallery.) Rain became imminent, time ran short, and Enterprise wanted their vans back. So, we headed out after hole nine with Clayton’s score in the lead and myself in a close second.

After a quick stop by the Rolla Inn, we parked at Centennial Hall and I had to walk from the farthest point on campus back to my dorm. It’s okay though, I beat the rain and burned off the Ruby’s ice cream

Ruby’s Ice Cream

The first stop we made was to Ruby’s Ice Cream, a local ice cream shop that’s been around for over 50 years. Our leaders said that they thought it was better than Ted Drews, which it is not. Still, it was pretty good.

I got a vanilla waffle cone, and nearly everyone else got some sort of waffle cone as well. Nathan got one of the more unique ones, as you can see…

Hiking at Meremac Springs

Viewing the Meramac Museum

On Tuesday I hiked in Meramec Springs. It was fun, from the multiple museums featured in the park, to the trout fishery, to the multitude of walking and hiking paths. We managed to walk all the way down the river to the human sized suspension bridge. I found it really amusing to throw fish food into the hatchery and watch the fish seriously fight over to who got to the food first. It was crazy. We then traveled to the mine, passing a old cemetery and multiple old house foundations. Overall, it was a fun day.
